Week 1: Bible in a Summer - the Law

During our Bible in One Summer Series, we are exploring the way the Bible is organized and why. Week 1 covers the first “grouping” of the Bible: The Books of the Law. In the beginning, God not only created the world and everything in it, but He had the perfect plan for our salvation already in store. Throughout this early human history, God integrated unmistakable parallels that point us to Jesus. The more we view scripture in this way, the more we see God’s mercy and redemption for us revealed.

IMPACT CARD

Reading: Exodus 16

Discussion Questions:

  1. Read through the experience of the Israelites in the desert (Exodus 16). What connections do you notice to the salvation story?

  2. What does Exodus 16 show us about the character of God?

  3. Throughout the Pentatuech (first 5 books) what are other stories that provide a foreshadowing to Jesus?

  4. Perhaps not as “dramatic” as Abraham and Isaac or Manna from Heaven, share a way in which The Lord Has Provided for you personally.
